The first verse is one of my favorites, it’s Hebrews 10:23. I love Hebrews because it is one of my favorite books of the Bible to read when my hope is low and I need to be encouraged.
“Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.”
Hebrews 10:23 NLT
We are instructed to “hold tightly to the hope we affirm”, but how exactly do we do that? Through Worship!
That’s exactly what worship is designed to do. When you’re feeling low and struggling to hold on to hope, play your favorite worship song. Sing out loud while dancing to it. The movement along with using your actual voice to worship God will begin to physically activate hope inside of us as we remember that God can be trusted to keep his promise.
“But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.”
Micah 7:7 NIV
How do we watch in hope for the Lord? By being present! When we’re feeling down and going through rough days, it often feels like the days are just going by but we’re not actively participating in them. Challenge yourself to find 3 good things in each day that remind you of how God showed up for you in that day.
Keep watch by being present and tracking these little moments day by day. Write them down and eventually when you look back on them you will see how your God heard your cry and has been giving you hope along the way.
“But as for me, I watch in “You are my refuge and my shield; your word is my source of hope.”
Psalms 119:114 NLT
This verse reminds us where our source of hope lies. The type of hope God gives us is an enduring one, a hope that lasts. So if we have run out of hope, that means God was not the source of whatever hope we were holding onto before.
Tap into hope today by immersing yourself in the Word of God. A practical way you can do this for example is to download the Bible Verses for Hope Guide here and save it to your computer. Save it as your phone background, write out the verses and stick them everywhere. In your car, on your mirror, your walls, anywhere and everywhere so that you are literally wrapping yourself in the Word of God.
“Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”
Romans 5:5 NKJV
The Bible shows us that we can acknowledge the realities of our situation and still choose to speak life over ourselves. Even when you don’t feel it, actively choosing to speak God’s promises and words over your life will have a positive impact on your mental health.
This is why I am a firm believer in affirmations. You know the Bible says the power of life and death is in the tongue. When you have Bible based affirmations and you speak them over your life you will not be disappointed for having hope in God no matter what kind of afflictions come your way.
Here are 4 affirmations you can use to begin speaking over your life today so that you can make room for God to fill your heart with hope and love.

1 Peter 1:3
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,”
1 Peter 1:3 NIV
We can take heart in the midst of trouble, despair, and any other challenges of the world because of Jesus.
Because Jesus died on the cross and rose up from the grave 3 days later, beating death and doing the impossible, we now have a living hope. Take a moment to say that to yourself right now, “hope is alive”.
We must learn to keep hope alive by actively reminding ourselves of why our hope is alive in the first place. This is the importance of knowing the Gospel. When your hope feels weary, remind yourself of the Good News. That Christ died on the cross and was raised to life again so that we may have life and have abundant hope for what is to come.
