This is part 4 of a 4 part series on Getting Started. Missed the previous posts? You can check out part 1 here, part 2 here, and part 3 here. This month’s theme is Getting Started and it is all about maximizing your potential before you can even see your potential.

In this blog post we’re going to talk about how to not let fear and feeling inadequate limit you from the potential God has placed in your life.

Your current position may be unconventional by society’s standards or seem like it’s the least likely place for your goals to be able to come true. But the Bible teaches us that we are not to follow the ways of this world, in fact we are supposed to go against it (Romans 12:2).

Don’t let your circumstances, or what the people around you say, limit what God has called you to do and wants to do through YOU. Your standards of what’s possible should not be based off of what the world says.

What I want people to know is that trying to do this thing to make you feel more qualified, or developing that thing to make you feel more prepared, are all signs that you’re still trying to get ready.

If you needed a different sign to help you let go of those limiting beliefs, here is one for you today.

God is saying, you’re in the position that I need you to be in exactly where you are right now.

You have what it takes to do what I called you to do exactly as you are right now.

Stop trying to “feel ready” all the time and start trusting God.

A Quick and Easy Tool For Getting Rid of Fear and Doubt

When I first launched The Lived Verse™ there was a lot of fear and doubt that I battled just to get it up and running. I had a lot thoughts like, “what if this doesn’t help anyone?“I’m not perfect so why would anyone want to hear what I have to say?” “I’m terrified of failing”. It was driving me nuts because even though I was having these thoughts, I also could not stop thinking about the dream God has placed on my heart for TLV. So I created this activity called an “And Board” (it’s kind of like an addition to your vision board that’s aimed at getting rid of your fears and doubts).

This is how an And Board works.

Step 1

For the first half of the sentence you’re going to write down your fears, doubts, inadequacies, whatever it is that is stopping you from going after the dreams God has placed on your heart.

Examples
I’m too young to be a leader.
I feel unqualified.
I have failed a few times before already.
Whatever it may be, write it down.

Step 2

For the second half of the sentence you will erase the period and put an “AND” there instead.

Doing this is important because it is a sign that your fears and doubts are not the end of your potential!

Step 3

Then you will finish the last half of the sentence with a more powerful and encouraging truth.

Examples
If God is for me who can be against me.
God chooses me as I am.
There’s no limit on how many times I can try.

Step 4

Put it all together to create your And Board!

Examples
I’m too young to be a leader AND if God is for me who can be against me.
I feel unqualified AND God chooses me as I am.
I have failed a few times before already AND there’s no limit on how many times I can try.
I have so many doubts AND God promises to work them out for my good.

Here are some examples from my personal And Board:

Step 5

It’s time to make your own And Board! Download the free guide that you can print out and use to create your own!

When you begin to think of all the limits and doubts that stop you from moving forward and making progress towards the vision that God has called for you in your life, read your And board and remind yourself of where your confidence lies.

Having your And Board be something that you read on a daily basis is going to be an incredible tool for letting go of fear and encouraging yourself.

If fear is keeping you from moving forward, maybe you need to add an “and” instead of a period.

This week go to God and ask Him what limitations have you set for yourself that stop him from doing the impossible in your life, and then create an And board for it.

Read the Bible and see the many examples of how God used young people, unskilled people, uneducated, unqualified, all the “un” people you can think of to do great things.

Speak Ephesians 3:20 over your life, have confidence, and begin to move away from your limitations as you move towards the abundance God has for you instead.

The future belongs to those who believe in
the beauty of their own dreams.
