FAQs

Please know that coaching is NOT therapy. Coaching/Mentorship is typically short-term support to help you plan and better manage the struggles with which you are seeking a coach/mentor for. Coaches/Mentors are able to provide feedback, assignments, and structured plans to help you reach your goals. Coaches/mentors are not able to diagnose, provide mental health treatment, or bill your insurance.

Therapy is usually longer term support using evidence based treatment modalities and trainings. This allows therapists to be able to provide a deeper level of care and support. Some therapists can diagnose and bill your insurance.

Therapists are like doctors that help to deal with that deeper internal work, whereas coaches/mentors can be ready with their first aid kit and skills but they are not doctors.

A good coach/mentor should always know when to refer someone to therapy.

Sometimes therapy requires a commitment that you’re not always ready for. Maybe with the current season of your life that you’re in, it may simply be hard to make time for it. Coaching/mentorship provides a good middle ground to begin the healing that you need and get the space to build some skills before jumping full force into therapy. A coach/mentor can help with providing information and more in depth support with exploring personal goals.

It is not unusual for one to go through coaching/mentorship and realize that they need greater support and decide to seek therapy. Some people start out with therapy and decide they want to seek coaching afterward or in addition to their therapy. As long as you talk with your therapist about it first, it is okay to combine coaching with therapy.

Remember coaching is never a replacement for therapy. If you are currently experiencing a significant mental health crisis or feel unable to manage your emotional and mental wellbeing in your current state then therapy may be a better fit for you.

Both coaching and therapy can be effective, but the best approach will depend on your specific needs and goals. Some individuals may benefit more from coaching, while others may benefit more from therapy. If you are unsure please reach out at hello@thelivedverse.com and we can discuss the best services approach for your particular needs.

Offering therapy services only to Christian women of color is a purposeful decision that is rooted in the recognition of the unique challenges and experiences that this population faces. The intersectionality of race, gender, and religion can create a unique set of challenges that may not be fully understood or addressed in a more general therapy setting.

As a Christian woman of color myself, I have personally experienced the challenges of finding a therapist who truly understands and respects my cultural and religious background. In my journey to find a therapist that I could trust and connect with, I realized that this is a common struggle for many Christian women of color. Finding faith based therapist is hard. Finding faith based therapist of color is EVEN HARDER. I know from personal experience and the experiences of those around me. Being that therapist available to other women of color that I wish I had available to me when I needed support, is a significant value to me.

By offering therapy services specifically for this population, I aim to provide a safe and effective therapeutic experience for individuals who may have felt underserved or misunderstood in traditional therapy settings.

Additionally, I recognize the importance of cultural and spiritual resources in the healing process and the role they play in the lives of many Christian women of color. By specializing in this population, I am able to incorporate these resources into therapy sessions in a way that is respectful and consistent with the client’s beliefs.

In summary, offering therapy services only to Christian women of color is a way to provide specialized, culturally responsive care that addresses the unique challenges and experiences of this population and to make therapy a more accessible, safe and effective experience for them.

My business values empowering Black Christians and other Christians of color so our services primarily focus on serving those communities.
